The highlight of our trip to the Amalfi Coast was our 8 day stay at the
Hotel Onda Verde. We chose the package and would do so again without
hesitation. Being met at the Naples airport and driven to the hotel by a
driver after a long day of travel was wonderful and from the moment we
arrived at the hotel, we began to relax. Our room was lovely and the
view from our balcony overlooking the sea and dramatic coastline was
mesmerizing. The Onda Verde is a small family owned hotel and is very
efficiently run. The small staff was warm and friendly always. Miro, the
owner or his son, Francesco, were always present to answer questions or
help with problems. When we had a difficulty with our car rental,
Francesco gladly made a call and resolved the issue in a matter of
minutes.
Our very pretty room had recently been renovated and the floors done
with beautiful local ceramic tiles. From the comfortable beds to the
flowers in pots on the sundeck, it was apparent to us that much
attention had been paid to detail. The bathroom was spacious and the
shower was great. When we chose to leave to balcony door open, we could
hear the lapping of the waves on the rocks below.
We were so happy with our decision to take meals at the hotel and the 3
choices on our menu for the first course and 3 choices for the second
course were all delicious. Often the choice was difficult so we each
ordered a different dish in order to sample various pastas and risottos.
There was never a repeat item; in fact, looking back, I just realized we
never even looked at the a la carte list, because our choices were all
so appealing. The chef prepares wonderful regional food, using local
produce and fish and his fresh pasta was a delight. This is Italian
cooking at its best: good ingredients- simply prepared.
We highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting this area who is
looking for a small hotel in a very peaceful setting with spectacular
views and excellent food. We had been warned that we might not want to
budge from this lovely spot and sure enough, on two different days, we
chose to stay on the sun deck rather than sightsee.

Special_Remarks = THE BEST HOTEL ON THE AMALFI COAST!Forget Positano. Forget
Amalfi. If you are looking for the absolute BEST non-tourist-y true Italian
seaside hotel, this is it! The Onda Verde, overlooking the marina in
Praiano, is quintessential Italian living. The rooms are all the same, with
the best views of the water and the Amalfi coast anywhere on the coast. When
we entered our room for the first time and Francesco threw open the
shuttered doors to expose the sunny terrace off our room, it took my breath
away - it was soooo beautiful! I kissed his cheek I was so happy! Every room
has this same view overlooking a sleepy little fishing cove below, with the
rocky Amalfi coast and the mountains in the background - it is simply a
little bit of heaven. Quiet, picturesque, dreamy. Sunsets like you have
never seen before! We will never stay anywhere else. Miro (the owner) and
his wife and their charming son Francesco work very hard to make sure your
stay is perfect. We consider them family now. They were SO helpful and kind
to us - molto gentile.Their English is perfect - especially Francesco - who
exchanged multiple emails with me, trying to plan our airport pick up in
Naples, concert tickets to Ravello, etc. He is a gem! They ALL bend over
backwards to make your stay absolutely perfect - it is a point of pride for
them - they SINCERELY want to make you happy. The meals on the terrrace
overlooking the water were excellent quality with views that cannot be beat
- they go on and on forever. One morning the chef surprised us with homemade
cinnamon sugared donuts - YUM! Not that they were needed - there was always
SOOO MUCH food to choose from - large tables laden with pastries, cereals,
meats, croissants, you name it....definitely NOT a place to diet! Terrace
dinners are candlelit and romantic, with homemade pastas, excellent fish,
grilled mozzarella on lemon leaves, you name it. The beds in the room were
the best of all the hotels we stayed in. There is a beach below the hotel
where the fishermen bring up their boats at night. Many local Italians come
there to relax and swim - especially on the weekend. We loved it! We hated
to leave. We will definitely come back, with our children next time. And,
the very best thing is that the hotel is so affordable! We paid over THREE
TIMES MORE to stay at the Bellevue Syrene in Sorrento (also a lovely hotel),
with room with a terrace on the water.....but it did not come close to
beating your hotel or seaviews in our opinion. Our thanks to Miro, his wife
and his son Francesco (who you should be SO proud of Miro! I predict he will
one day outdo even you (!) as an excellent hotelier! - This is the best
compliment you can give to a parent in my opinion, that your child takes
after you and wants to do even better than you. Yes, your beautiful hotel is
in very good hands indeed!). My only worry is that this place is going to
become so swamped with tourists once people discover it (and read this
glowing review!), that it will change. PLEASE DO NOT CHANGE A THING!! It is
PERFECT IN EVERY WAY. We LOVED IT! Thank you for our BEST experience in
Italy. We will keep in touch and see you again in the very near future.
Grazie Mille!!!!! .

Dear Mr. Milano,
It is almost two weeks since returning home from our holiday (crusie, family
and our stay at your hotel, giving us the opportunity to see the Amalfi
Coast, Capri).
All of us would like to thank you and your staff for the excellent
hospitality and experience. We had a great time. The view from our rooms was
breathtaking.
Please give my special thanks to Nicola for the special deserts he made for
us to try, especially the "Anniversary" cake for Sue and Nick. They were
pleasantly surprised. To Giuseppe our greatest thanks and appreciation for
his sense of humour and making us feel at home like old friends.
Thank you for making our holiday special. We will be referring your hotel to
our family and friends. We hope to see all of you one day soon.
May the Milano family and your entire staff continue to be blessed with all
the good fortune for creating a truly wonderful and very, very special place.
Simply exceptional!

Buongiorno Francesco!!!
It is wonderful to hear from you! We just arrived home from our trip and are
still trying to get back on American time. We are very jet-lagged!
Of all the places we stayed during our time away, your hotel was BY FAR the
VERY BEST HOTEL.
We loved everything about your hotel - the views for our room, the beds were
excellent, the food was great, the location perfect for exploring the Amalfi
coast,......but the absolute BEST part was meeting you and your fabulous
parents! Truly, your personal, warm and friendly help and guidance are what
we treasured most about our trip. Nowhere else in Italy are there hotels
like yours - with such personal service and attention, such great views and
peace and serenity, for such an affordable price. You made us feel like part
of your "family". That is why it was so sad to have to leave!
The hotel where my husband had his medical conference in Sorrento (the
Bellevue Syrene Hotel) was lovely, but cost almost three times (!!!) as much
as your hotel and was not nearly as friendly, picturesque, or cozy. Our
room, which was on the water with a terrace, cost over 600euros per night
and was not anywhere near as nice as yours.
We will DEFINITELY come back to your hotel, with our children. They saw our
pictures and could not believe how beautiful your hotel was!
Please thank your Dad Miro and your mom - we loved meeting them both and
were sad to have to say goodbye to them. Your Dad Miro was especially hard
to part from - he was soooooo nice to us. We told both of your parents that
they should be so proud of you! Your excellent English and your helpful
emails were a large part of the reason we booked your hotel in the first
place. You are a true gem! They are lucky to have you as part of their hotel
team.
It was interesting to hear you say in your email how I was "shining" all the
time while at your hotel - - this observation was true! I was sooooooo
happy, as was my husband, during our entire stay at your beautiful hotel!
How could anyone NOT be happy to be in such a beautiful piece of heaven???!?!?
I think I am still shining from the wonderful time at your beautiful hotel!
We cannot thank you enough Francesco. We will never forget you, your parents,
or our wonderful time at your hotel. We will definitely be back in the
future.
I will be posting my excellent reviews shortly - look for them next week
sometime.

26 set 2010 | Tipo di viaggio: Coppie We spent a glorious week in August
2010 at the Hotel Onda Verde. This family run hotel well and truly exceeded
expectations.
It has a wonderful location sitting just above the beach, Marina Di Praia
and has great views along the Amalfi Coast. The service was professional and
yet very friendly and helpful. We had a number of excellent meals and
breakfast was always a treat.
Our room was of a decent size and well appointed. It also had a verandah big
enough for two deck chairs to sit comfortably alongside one another, where
we could take in the view and soak up the sun.
The ferry to Positano is less than 100 meters from the hotel and just to add
to the delights there are another four or five restaurants nearby.
We stayed a week and thought we were in paradise.

In my
opinion, Onda Verde was spectacular in every way and I did not experience a
single complaint described in any of the reviews here on Trip Advisor.
The rooms were beautiful, the staff was truly amazing in nearly every way,
the secluded location is perfect and the restaurant had good food. They took
my American Express without any problems at all. Praiano was a great place
to visit. It is beautiful and quiet; but only a 10 minute boat ride away
from Amalfi in one direction and Positano in the other. We arranged for a
private water taxi several times, simply by calling the front desk to let
them know when we wanted to go and where, and then walking down to the beach
at the prearranged time. We also arranged taxi rides, all in really nice new
Mercedes sedans, through the front desk. There’s free parking if you dare to
drive, although it looked like it was really a bit too much, and I’m saying
that as someone who commutes from the Jersey shore into Manhattan for work
every day. It’s not necessary to go anywhere though, the restaurant in the
hotel was pretty much open whenever we wanted to eat, and there are other
restaurants down on the beach that were all good as well. Everyone we
interacted with in the restaurant and the kitchen was friendly and welcoming,
which was good because we often found ourselves passing through the
restaurant to get to the plush lounge chairs on the terrace of the
restaurant’s roof or to the computer we used free of charge in the lobby. We
had free internet in our room too. We just had to ask for a password at the
front desk.
Our room had a large terrace with lounge chairs on it, and was not only
comfortable but beautifully appointed. There are 30 rooms at this hotel, we
were told only one did not have a private terrace. The beautiful Milano
family villa is nestled among the cliff in the midst of the hotel, and we
could see fresh ingredients like lemons and basil growing in their garden.
The guest rooms are in other villas, which are connected by an elevator as
well as a maze of winding ramps stairways and stone cave-like halls. The air
conditioning worked perfectly in all the rooms we stayed in, (three by the
end of our stay) as did the spacious showers and toilets in the quaint tile
bathrooms. Everything was VERY clean and most definitely large enough. There
were plenty of plush towels, shower gels and shampoos for the three of us
and the front desk even gave us big beach towels to take outside with us.
I’ve never stayed at a hotel with such caring, friendly, and accommodating
staff. By the time we left, everyone in our group felt like we were a part
of their family. And we only stayed for three nights. They were so helpful
with everything! Yes, as the other reviewers have pointed out there are some
areas not accessible by elevator, but whenever we asked for help with our
luggage someone helped us, and they were always very friendly about
everything. I really can’t imagine that some of the other guests of this
hotel found the Milano family to be cold; the exact opposite is true. They
went to great lengths to make sure we had the stay of a lifetime, and for
that we are forever grateful. We didn’t experience any problems with our
reservation, and they never asked for us to pay in cash. They happily
exchanged our dollars for euro too, and at a great rate. Onda Verde is the
closest thing to heaven on Earth that I’ve ever experienced, and I could not
recommend them more highly.

I selected this hotel because of the information I received from
Tripadvisor. Hotel Onda Verde's website is one of the best I've seen and the
seven day package was a great deal .
The staff did everything to make us comfortable. I had forgotten to mention
with my reservation that my husband had Parkinsons and would not be able to
walk long distances so Milano changed our room to one with less steps to get
to it. The room was beautiful with a view that would be hard to duplicate.
The room was spotless and the beds were changed daily.
Every day at breakfast the menu for dinner was laid out. You could select
one of three appetizers and one of three dinner entrees. If they were not to
your liking, you could substitute from the a la carte menu. The wine choices
were excellent and very reasonably priced. The waitstaff, Gesepe and Micheal,
were true professionals and went out of their way to please us.
I would come back in a heartbeat.!!!!!!!

The beautiful Onda Verde is perched on a sheer hillside just above the sea,
offering tremendous views of the small bay. There's lots to do and see -
other towns along the coast to visit, a boat trip to the island of Capri,
Pompeii & Vesuvius, walks in the hills, swimming, and simply relaxing in the
incredible surroundings.
Having visited Positano, St Agata, Sorrento, Ravello and Amalfi, all of
which were charming and had their own characters, it struck us that Onda
Verde was the perfect place to stay. Smaller than the other towns, Praiano
is less bustling with the commerce of tourism, making it the ideal place to
set out from and return to when you want to explore other places along the
Amalfi Coast.
As the crow flies, the towns are all very close - you can take a water taxi
from Amalfi to Positano in 15 minutes, but by road (winding coastal roads)
it takes 30 minutes or so to Amalfi from Praiano. We hired a boat for two
hours (80 Euros) - a cross between a dinghy and a speedboat - and went up
and down the coastline ourselves. It was very easy to get the hang of
steering the boat and a great way to see the countless little bays and areas
of interest.
The room was spacious, clean, had its own terrace and the all important AC.
The staff were all very friendly, going out of their way to be helpful -
which made for an extremely warm atmosphere. The hotel owner and his son
were always welcoming and on hand to help out with anything from restaurant
recommendations (Le Strada in Praiano being a particularly good one!) to bus
tickets and a hand drawn walking map (a route through the hills from Praiano
to Positano - not one for the faint hearted... lots of steps!). At breakfast
(a great spread of cereals, fruits, meats, toast, croissants, juice, tea,
coffee etc. - really, more than you can eat and with a great deal of choice)
you can relax on the terrace in the shade or the sun, depending on your
preference, and watch the boats coming in and going out while you plan your
day.
Each day we were there it was about 30 Celsius, hot but bearable, especially
when a breeze blew in from the sea. The hotel has a few terraces which offer
sun loungers and, if you want, parasols and shade. Praiano beach is pebbly
and small, fine for relaxing on and for swimming. Just below the hotel is a
wonderful restaurant, Le Pirata. After the sun has set it's hard to imagine
a more beautiful setting for some fine sea food and a fine glass of red.
If you're thinking of visiting the Amalfi Coast then you can't do better
than to stay at Onda Verde! A big thank you to Miro (the owner), Michele,
Peppe, Nicola, Scuipatiello, and Francesco.

Hi Casimiro, just letting you know that we have arrived back safely it
Australia after 20 wonderful days in Italy. The 2 nights on the Amalfi
Coast were a highlight for us. We particularly enjoyed our stay at Onda
Verde. We managed to do a brief walk up the hill side of Praiano among
the narrow stone walkways and buildings and were overawed by Old Italy.
We also had an electrifying bus trip from Praiano to Sorrento on out
return to Rome. We think the bus driver thought he was driving in the
Formula One. Just as well we were on the hill side of the road and not
the cliff side. ( I clearly remember being in a Sita bus in 1986 from
Sorrento to Amalfi and we were so frightened by the bus driving at we
got out at the first stop (must have been Positano) and catching the
next Sita bus back to Sorrento) Could it have been the same bus driver
24 years later but no wiser.
We loved your lemoncello. As soon as we got back we picked our 20 ripe
lemons and now we will have a try at making this wonderful drink Any
tips of recipes would be much appreciated ( have found a number of
recipes on the Internet) Do you favour the ‘slow’ or ‘fast’ method.
So finally thank you once again for your wonderful hospitality. If you
are ever in Queensland Australia don’t hesitate to look us up at
Peachester near the Sunshine Coast.

Dear Hotel Onda Verde,
we would like to thank you again for the perfect service and your
personal advices for our walking tours, we enjoyed it very much to stay
in your hotel and to visit the Amalfi Coast.. The travell back to
Germany was a "odyssey" due to the aircraft-grounding. The flight to
Munic was cancelled and the night train to Munic was overbooked till
last saturday, also Lufthansa offered us a flight probably for saturda
only , depending on the development and the long waiting-list.
Under these circumstances we decided to hire a car and drove by car from

according to train-computer system, but places available in the first
class) and hired again a car from Munic to Düsseldorf. After this "Italy-Round

I was just cleaning out some old files and ran across our travel records
from our stay at Hotel Onda Verde in October 2000. What a fabulous time
we had there! The memories are fantastic. Every time we tell someone of
our visit, we get such a nostalgic look on our faces that they want to
hear more. This hotel is lovely the food fabulous, and the people
absolutely the most accommodating. I can't wait to visit again.

We spent 4 unforgettable days/nights here in April, 2006, and have not
yet stopped talking about it, and dreaming of our next visit! In every
way, we truly felt that the Milano family cared about nothing more than
for us to have a memorable, relaxing stay, and we did!
We look forward to returning, and couldn't imagine staying anywhere else
on the beautiful Amalfi Coast!

In Sept '09 my wife and I spent a most enjoyable week at Hotel Onda
Verde taking day trips to beautiful places. The staff are excellent and
we thoroughly enjoyed the food. The pictures you see on their web site
what you actually see. We did not rent a car and never wanted one. It
was my 80th birthday so the elevator was welcomed. Recommended to all.

Dear Mr. Milano and friends,
As I count my blessings on this Thanksgiving Day I have all of you in my
thoughts. The two weeks that I spent at Onde Verde were my dream
fulfilled. It sounds a bit trite but cannot be more true. All the beauty
of the Amalfi Coast that I anticipated was surpassed, the relaxation and
reflection that I desired was fulfilled and the charm of the Italian
people, especially all of you, was the best part of all. Traveling alone
was a personal challenge, and at times I was a little overcome. All of
you were so supportive and gave me that little push to help me overcome
any anxiety. On the evening that I didn't feel well, Gerarda and
Giuseppe provided a tray of hot tea to my room and that kindness was so
appreciated. And the baked apples, my very favorite food, that Raphaele
prepared was a special treat. Raphaele, I have tried but cannot
duplicate your superb apples.
I was a little nervous when I arrived at the Naples airport, but there
was Beniameno with a sign with my last name. I didn't even have to wait.
Please tell him hello for me. Francesco met me on arrival and took my
bags to the room for me. Oh, and what a view that room had. I could prop
against the bed board and look right out at the bright blue bay of
Salerno and the fishing boats bobbing about in the breeze. My thanks
again to JoAnna for providing an immaculately clean and fresh room.
The trip to Capri was one of the highlights of the visit and I read the
book "The Story of San Michele" as soon as I came home as it made me
feel a little like I was still there. I received an email from Gwen and
Bob, two wonderful people that I met at Onde Verde, who sent me some
pictures, one of my terrified ride up the chair lift at AnaCapri.
Heights make me uneasy but I did it!
I have shown my pictures to everyone at work and they agreed that I had
been to paradise. Several people are now thinking about going to Italy
when they had not previously done so.
I miss all of you and will be returning to Onde Verde as soon as I can.
My Sincerest Thanks to all of you, Norma

Dear Hotel Onda Verde staff:
We have arrived home in Missouri, USA, and received your e-mail. Thank
you for thinking of us.
We all had a wonderful time at Hotel Onda Verde. It was even better than
we had expected thanks to a wonderful staff and clientele. Every day was
special, starting with a warm greeting by Raphael or Guiseppe and Nick,
and the crew at the reception desk. We enjoyed seeing the other guests
each morning and hearing about where they would be spending their day.
Then at dinner we would get a report. It was like spending the week with
family.
You can be sure that we will return if we are ever planning another trip
to the Amalfi Coast. We have been showing photos and raving about Hotel
Onda Verde to our friends so maybe you will get other visitors from the
Heartland of the U. S.
Many thanks to you all for making our stay very special.
Fondly,
Dave and Nancy Fagerness

Special_Remarks = Hotel Onda Verde is a rare gem located on the Amalfi
Coast in Praiano. It is a lovely, serene, and magical place nestled on
the cliff overlooking the beautiful blue/green Mediterranean Sea.
You could not ask for more - the warm and inviting staff, the impecable
service, the beautiful location, and the breathtaking views each morning
and evening - it truly takes your breath away. Our room was just what we
ordered. From the beautiful hand painted furniture, the colorful ceramic
tiles in the room and bathroom, to the balcony which had the most
gorgeous view everyday, it was truly magical.
To the wonderful staff at the Onda Verde, we send a special thank you
for making our stay at your "home" the most memorable. Miro, the
manager, is a gracious, warm and charming host as was his beautiful and
gracious wife Hilary, and his dear sister Sofia. Giada, along with
Sofia, was always very informative, helpful, genuine and friendly. A
real pleasure. Mrs. Milano, Miro's mom, is a very warm and endearing
lady. Chief Chef Nicola and second chef Franco, thank you for the
tasteful and beautifully prepared food. Every night was a rare treat and
we truly enjoyed your cooking as well as your personality. Bravo! And to
our special waiters, Raphel and Guiseppi (Pepino), you are both an asset
to your profession. Not a day or evening went by when you didn't make us
feel very special and welcomed. We thank you for the impecable service
and your friendship. We'll miss every morning and evening with both of
you.
If you and that "special person" in your life are looking for an
inviting, tranquill, romantic place, by all means choose Hotel Onda
Verde. We found heaven when we chose this place. The warm and friendly
staff, the service, the food and the gorgeous views of the coast line,
along with the sunsets, are truly worth the stay. A warm thank you to
everyone at Onda Verde for making our trip to your country an
unforgettable and enjoyable experience. We'll treasure the memories. We
miss all of you and we will definitely return sooner, if not later.

Special_Remarks = My wife and I felt like we were in paradise. The view
from our room was absolutely breathtaking and the staff treated us like
royalty. Peppino and Rafaele you were great both with the service you
provided as well as the knowledge of the area that you were able to
share with us. Only regret my wife had was that she did not take the
cooking class with Nicola, but that will be something to look forward to
next year. Complimenti to the Milano family.
